Before Erling died, there had been a series of rather suspicious “near” accidents. Then, one day, he left home and never returned: struck down by a heart attack while riding his bike in the middle of the road. Now Evy, his wife for forty-five years, is alone in the big house. But something is not right. Objects that disappear, doors that open by themselves – even the one to the basement, which has always remained locked. The children hide things from her and she begins to doubt everything. When an old childhood friend of Erling reappears after years with a story to tell, the suspicions become more concrete: did someone really want to harm Erling? Is it possible that he was murdered? And if those who were after him are now on Evy’s trail?
