Description
In Portuguese Mozambique, little Gita spends her days surrounded by African nature in the company of the governess Lóia and in absolute adoration of her father Laureano. The wonder and spontaneity of the child contrast with the dissatisfaction and bitterness of her mother Amélia, who can hardly tolerate the relationship between the maid and her daughter. Behind her hostility lies a past of disillusionment, the betrayed hopes of a marriage by proxy, the dream of a better life shattered. Years later, it will be up to Gita to desire a different future for herself and for the country. Childhood and adulthood, independence and subjugation, friendship and racism: in the East Africa narrated by Teolinda Gersão, differences merge, giving rise to a magical universe made of words and dreams.
